Use camera features on the Galaxy A17 5G

You can launch the Camera app on your Galaxy A17 5G in several ways:

• From the Home screen: Tap the Camera icon directly on the Home screen.
  
• From the Lock Screen: Swipe up from the Camera shortcut icon on the Lock screen to launch the app without unlocking your phone.
  
• From the Apps screen: Navigate to the Apps screen, locate the Camera icon, and tap it to open.
  
• Double press the Side button: To enable this feature, go to Settings > Advanced features > Side button, toggle on Double press, and select Camera. Now you can double press the Side button to launch the Camera app.
  

1. Open the Camera app, and then tap the Quick control icon (the circle with 4 dots).
2. Tap the Settings icon, and then tap Shooting methods. 
3. Choose your desired option:
   • Press Volume buttons to: Select your preferred option. If you select Take picture or record video, the volume cannot be adjusted when recording videos.
   • Voice commands: Take pictures by saying "Smile", "Cheese", "Capture", or Shoot", or record videos by saying "Record Video".
   • Floating Shutter button: An extra shutter button will appear on the screen.
   • Show palm: Show your palm to the camera to take selfies.
     

1. Open the Camera app, and then look for the available options at the bottom of the screen.
2. Swipe left or right to browse through the shooting modes, and then tap a mode to select it.
   
   • Fun: Access and use Snapchat filters on your photos.
   • Portrait: Add and adjust background effects for photos.
   • Photo: Take photos and allow the camera to determine the ideal settings for pictures.
   • Video: Record videos and allow the camera to determine the ideal settings for videos.
   • More: Choose other available shooting modes. Tap Edit to drag the modes into or out of the shooting modes tray at the bottom of the Camera screen.
     • Pro: Manually adjust the ISO sensitivity, exposure value, white balance, and color tone while taking pictures.
     • Panorama: Create a linear image by taking pictures in either a horizontal or vertical direction.
     • Food: Take pictures that emphasize the vivid colors of food.
     • Night: Use this to take photos in low-light conditions without using the flash.
     • Macro: Use this for close-up photography.
     • Slow Motion: Record videos at a high frame rate for viewing in slow motion.
     • Slow Motion: Capture videos at a higher frame rate than in Slow Motion mode.
     • Hyperlapse: Create a time lapse video by recording at various frame rates. The frame rate is adjusted depending on the scene being recorded and the movement of the device.
3. The selected shooting mode will be highlighted, indicating that it is currently active.
4. You can now start taking photos or recording videos using the chosen shooting mode. 

Open the Camera app, and then tap the switch camera icon (two arrows) or swipe up or down on the viewfinder.

To disable the switch camera option, open the Camera app, and then tap the Quick control icon (the circle with 4 dots). Tap the Settings icon, then tap Swipe preview up/down to switch cameras, and then tap Off.

Zoom in

Place your finger on the screen and pinch toward the center of the image to zoom in up to 10x. Release your finger when you reach the desired zoom level.
 

Zoom out

Place your finger on the screen and pinch away from the center of the image to zoom out. Release your finger when you reach the desired zoom level.

1. Open the Camera app, and then look for the available options at the bottom of the screen.
2. Swipe left or right, and then tap Video mode.
3. Tap the Video size icon in the top right corner, and then select the desired resolution size (FHD or HD). The frame rate cannot be adjusted.

2. Tap the Settings icon, and then adjust your desired setting.
   

Here are some tips to capture stunning photos and videos:

• Golden hour lighting: Shoot during sunrise or sunset for a warm, natural glow.
• Natural light indoors: Position your subject near a window for soft lighting.
• Rule of thirds: Enable grid lines in camera Settings to compose balanced shots by placing the subject in the left or right third of the frame. 
• Relaxed subjects: Ensure your subject is comfortable and relaxed for better photos.
• Fix "Camera Failed" issues:
  • Open the Camera app, and then tap the Quick control icon. Tap the Settings icon, and then tap Reset settings.
    
  • From the Settings menu in the Camera app, go to About Camera to check for and install the latest version.
    
  • Open the Settings on your phone, and then tap Security and Privacy. Tap Privacy, and turn on Camera Access.
